Australian women will now be able to access medical abortions without visiting a doctor or pharmacist, with the launch of a new telephone service that dramatically improves access to pregnancy termination. The Tabbot Foundation provide telephone consultation with an experienced medical practitioner and then an interview with one of their clinical psychologists, (in NSW a psychological assessment is required and done over the phone). If medical termination is considered suitable, they provide all medications necessary (at a total cost of $250) and a registered nurse to support you through the process as well as a 24 hour on-call doctor.
